Kimono Acorns

While living in Japan, I came across a traditional craft idea of taking real acorn tops and stuffing them with old scraps of kimono fabric. I tried my hand at this and this is what i came up with. the acorns you see here are made of real acorn-tops and stuffed with vintage kimono fabric. Smaller acorn-tops were collected in Japan, larger ones are collected in Montreal. After a stroll in Meiji Jingu park in Tokyo one late-November day, I came across hundreds of fallen oak branches with the acorns already fallen out. I collected these, varnished them them stuffed the cavities with fabric.
